Javascript to highlight vowels in web-pages

This is a script I wrote at work recently, and forms part of the free toolkit provided by the Icelandic accessibility (web)service Stillingar.is.

I believe the current version of the script is fairly well optimized (for both size and execution speed), it is very easy to use, but still provides a fair number of features for developers to play with.

Best of all, the script is free for everyone to use and modify - as long as the version they distribute contains a pointer back to the script's home page.

Borgar and I had great fun poking at the code together, looking for ways to make it run faster.
