Subject: Stefan Elias

Written October 10. 2003, at 13:18 GMT.

Brief email exchange between Rob Berman (Stína's dad) and me, regarding the newborn.

From Rob:

My reply to Rob:

a) Extend my/our congratulations to everyone. We're all very excited and looking forward to seeing the new "vísitölufjölskylda" in the flesh in the new year.

b) Please ask if everyone is ok with me putting the pictures online for the world to see. I'll wait and do nothing until I receive an ok from you.

c) We need more data. height, weight, everyone's condition, comments, etc.

Rob's reply back to me:

Hi

They named him Stefan Elias, which will have normal Icelandic spelling when he moves to Iceland, so you can spell it that way.

Stefan after Stefania (and of course after the great "Albertan" Stefan G Stefansson, who had been born 5 days earlier, Oct 3, and who Stefania, also born Oct 3, was named after). Elias after Mona: her maiden name. So both David's grandmothers are acknowledged. Ko-leen had asked David to name him, since she had named their first son, Casper.

The parents approve the pictures going on line. I guess I approve the weird one of me, too.

He was born at 15:01 Mountain Time October 8; weighing 10 lb 6 oz (whatever that is; Inga says around 20 "marks"), 59 cm "tall" - 1 cm shorter than the special baby measuring tape. Hands, as George Berman would say, the size of loaves of bread. Well, at least "runstikki". Check out the size of his feet in the picture!!

David says that he has already shown himself to be his own boss. He would not budge until the last possible minute, despite the best laid plans of parents, doctors etc. And then chose to be born precipitously, at the very hour when Inga stepped out of the hospital and was not available. (She had long ago arranged an appointment with a specialist at that time). Ko-leen & baby came home this morning and are doing fine.

Love to everyone
Afi (thrisvar, teljandi Casper)
