This is Your Blog on Money

Nick Denton on Google Adsense:

"Here's a prediction: [Google's] text ads will force weblogs to become more like traditional media sites. Shorter front pages, more internal links, longer content." ... "Text ads will give blogs a business model; but they'll also warp the format."

Here's my prediction: Only a small number of weblogs will bother with putting up text ads, so the format itself will not be warped. It's only that the old lines betweeen commercial-and-volunteer, pro-and-amateur, blog-and-newssite will become more and more blurred.

The old weblog format will continue to exist, it may just become a little harder to find in it's "purest" form.

Note to self: Purity sucks. I'm seriously considering to sign up for Google's Adsense program.
