People Who Find Mundanity Interesting
Journal of Mundane Behaviour is a site that publishes essays and articles that focus on the obvious. Tons of interesting (??) material to read.
I never realized this but there is a field within the social sciences that focuses on boring stuff specificly. I guess this subject is the one most overlooked by those who seek to expand our knowledge about ourselves. Still, mundanity is really a very exiting thing to examine when you think about it. Mundanity contains the norm and the norm defines our culture.
Hmmm... If looked at from the right perspective, then my homepage (and weblog) can be seen as an ongoing documentation of the mundane. Study material?
Planned readings from the journal:
- Remarks on the social organisation of space and place
- "I'm sick of shaving every morning": or, The Cultural Implications of "Male" Facial Presentation
- A Mundane Manifesto
- Validating Your Merit in Letters of Application for Employment
