What We Did Last Weekend

Written September 11. 2000, at 23:51 GMT.

Last weekend was fun. Not very productive but fun. A short text for each of the days follows:

Friday

On Friday Bjarni, Unnur, Stína, Logi and I watched pirated South Park shows (4th season) on my computer at work. Lots of fun. Beer and snacks added.

The new character Timmy is my new favourite. - TIMMY!!!

Afterwards we went our place and for a sit-chat.

Saturday

Saturday started with fried breakfast with Davíđ (Stína's brother) and Lovísa (his girl-friend) as they'd stayed at our place the night before.

In the afternoon Stína and I went to Dýrleif's place to celebrate her son's 2nd birthday. We gave him a black and white single-use camera and some money for developing the prints. It was a crazy birthday-present-for-a-two-year-old idea we got at the last minute. We really look forward to seeing the prints, as they're bound to be interesting. Grown-ups do way too much looking when they take pictures. Kids have a different method... Pressing the button is focus of their attention. Therein lies the joy. The picture comes second - or third...

We then started the evening by attending a fashion show where my aunt Gilla (Gíslína Hákonardóttir) had designed most of the clothes. The company behind the show is 66°N, an Icelandic company specializing in rain-proof clothing. The designs were all very modern and most were quite fasionable. Really nice! Stay dry and cool at the same time. Pity they're only going to produce a small fraction of all the cool stuff we saw there.

After the fasion show we finally went to café Sólon Íslandus where our two friends Kiddý and Dagbjört were having a joint birthday party. Great fun, lots of people we like, lots of pretty faces, lots of smiles and laughs. Fun! I went wild with our digital camera and took almost 200 pictures at the party (most of which will be available for download, as soon as I get the online photoalbum up and running in some form or another).

Sunday

Sunday was lazy (read: half hung-over) day. The highlight of the day was a hot-tub sitting trip to the swimming-pool area in Laugardalur with Logi, Bjarni and Stína. Ice-cream and hot dogs followed.

Sunday evening my uncle Óli came over to help me estimate what work may need to be done to our house. I found out that doing stuff to houses is generally much more expensive than I had hoped.

Still we found out that there's no real need to do anything for the house. It's only matter of how nice we want to make it. I guess it's all a matter of investing money in a more appealing (and more sellable) property. Óli is smart and was able to really open my eyes to tons of stuff I'd never thought about. His visit was most valuable.
