My Own Dynamic Website!!
I've just aired the first dynamic version of my weblog! Everything seems to work as expected. (As expected :-)
The whole thing is a 100% home-grown recipie. The pages are written in Embperl and XML data-files containing the entries.
The best thing is that everything is made-to-fit, and I can now manage the whole site through a web-browser using a simple HTML back-end interface I built (again using embperl).
Being the nerd I am, I actively avoided using any ready-made solutions such as canned weblogs (Blogger, Pitas, etc.) and relational databases (I've already played with those). I didn't even use perl XML modules!
No pain - no gain! This is the best way for me to learn perl and gain better insight into the ways of the programmer(tm).
I'm also planning to set up a similar site to this one for my girlfriend.
Being the optimistic (delusional??) nerd I am, I also expect to make more frequent updates to the site from now on. :-)
Joy!
