I finally read the Mappa Mundi article Getting Tufte. It, and he, have been much talked about on CHI-WEB recently but I never really had the time to dig into it.
It's a nice piece of article, and what is even more interesting is the subtle (yet honest!!) promotion of Tufte's books done by the author of the article (Inline links to Amazon.com). I agree with Steve Outing in that this is the way on-line publishing will go and should go. - Straight forward placement and offering of *relevant* products.
Furthermore, the left-hand side column has a variety of (links to) relevant background information and further readings, both on Tufte and some of the concepts mentioned in the article. Excellent! This is one of the key elements of new media journalism - one ignored/overlooked by majority of todays info-outlets.
Also, this article made me really want to buy and read Tufte's books. If/When I do I'll try to remeber to use the Mappa Mundi links to pay them my few nickles worth of appreciation.
