Stupid American Law Proposal
The US government, with the backing of many powerful companies, are trying to pass an extension to their copyright law that would cover databases and all sorts of collections of facts.
Congress Does a Database Dance and Bills Would Fence Off the Facts offer some background info on the subject, while Publisher Must Lay Down the Law talks about a (little funny/quite scary) real-life example of the possible effects of this law being passed.
