At 02:00: The Power of Word of Mouth on the Net
Jakob Nielsen's Spotlight for May 31. 1999 is on an survey that shows how word of mouth travels faster on-line than off-line. This should come as a surprise to noone, because of how extremely easy direct inter-person communication is on-line.
Come to think of it, this is actually on of the main ideas behind the Cluetrain Manifesto.

At 01:00: Life after the Eurovision Song Contest
The Eurovision Song Contest is over
After an exciting dog-race for the first place Iceland came in second. One popular theory was/is that the Swedish contestant's figure-emphasizing and skin-colored pullover had worked very well to her advantage - It just can't be that ABBA is "in" again.
A wave of silent rage against anything remotely Swedish swept over the nation but quickly changed into highly emotional state of patriotism (largely alcohol-induced) and ended in even the most unlikely (read untalented) people chanting the Icelandic National Antem from their balconies, out into the night.
Roughly half an hour later everyone in Iceland had forgotten about the stupid song contest and went out clubbing and dancing to old Eurovision "hits".
Update (June 7. 1999): My friend sent me some nude photos of Charlotta Nilsson the Swedish contestant. Some sources claim that they're fake... - Seem real enough to me :)
